It is awards season after all…

A couple days ago, on February 4, the 2014 JUNO Awards nominees were announced. It’s always fun to see which past TD Kitchener Blues Festival artists have been honoured with nominations.

Nominated for Blues Album of the Year are:

• David Gogo  – Come on Down
• Downchild – Can You Hear the Music
• Harrison Kennedy  – Soulscape
• James ‘Buddy’ Rogers – My Guitar’s My Only Friend
• MonkeyJunk – All Frequencies

Very cool! Downchild, Harrison Kennedy and MonkeyJunk are all artists who performed at the TD Kitchener Blues Festival over the years.

What are your favourite TD Kitchener Blues Festival moments?

Well, for me… That Sunday afternoon in 2010 when Buckwheat Zydeco brought a young fan on stage to help him play the accordion. Or just watching the incredible crowds and energy at the main stage in front of Kitchener City Hall. And of course time spent with amazing dedicated volunteers.
